DOCTORS WITOUT BORDERS WHO ARE THEY?
They are doctors and nurses that volunteer to provide medical care in countries to victims of war and disaster regardless of race, religion or politics.
Things too know about this organisation:
- was started in 1971 by a group of french doctors, they said the medical needs are more important then national borders.(MSF=medecins sans frontieres)
-in 1991 doctors without borders got the nobel peace price.
-operational sections directly control field projects,deciding when,where and what kind of medical things is necessary and when to stop the help there. there are five operational sections and they are located in Belgium,France,Holland,Spain and Switzerland.
-nonoperational sections recruit voleenters,raice funds for field projects,and do public outreach and education projects on behalf of populations in danger.there are thirteen nonoperational sections they are located in Australia,Austria,Canada,Denmark,Germany, Greece,Hong kong, Italy,Japan, Luxembourg,Norway,Sweeden,the UK and the US.
-they finance their projects from donations,and fundracing.
-english is the official MSF language,but to apply to work with doctors without borders knowing french, spanish,arabic,russian or portuguese is an advantage.
you can find their websites in different languages, from the countries they have a location.
-cooperate with other aid organisations, and work closely with national medical professionals.
-they are international volunteers and skilled local staff.
why did i choose this organisation?
I find this organisation intresting,and good. i belive in what they stand for that everyone need help, and should be able to get help and medicalcare regardless of who they are,and what they belive, and very importantly where they live. This volunteers are most often people who could have been living a safe life with a deesent paycheck in a good contry, but chooses to help others, in some of the most dangerous places in the world,where the human conditions almost is not human, where they probably dont even know about the humanrights, wich we almost take for granted. This people are brave, and so are the locals that volunteer to help them. They give of them self, they choose to live in this, the death, the war,the pain, getting threatend by people who dont want them there and see them as a obstacle they want to get away.I saw a movie once about doctors without borders, and it was incredible, you could see how their life was, and the condtions they lived in.This is why i choose them, because they are incredible.
